So my good friend the science teacher is absent today and there’s no substitute teacher, so I am selling back my conference period to sub her science class. No lesson plan, so naturally, we watch Colin Furze!

Make them take notes how he builds & makes his stuff work. It will look like you did something useful.

Science is fun at that age. Do you have a lab space for demos and experiments?

If youtube isn’t blocked on your server, Motherboard has some really well made science based videos that keep Freshmen entertained and interested. Same with National Geographic. Much better production value than the stuff my science teachers used to show us. I make my kids fill out a worksheet while watching them and they still enjoy it.

Our resident sheep farmer introduced a topical matter that lead to discovering thebrainscoop. Hilariously dorky smart person dumb antics ensue.

I’m always amazed that schools can have so many Bunsen burners and not burn down.

Oh, those things are tightly regulated.
True story: last month I was using a burner on my bench, hooked up to the institutional gas spigot. The tubing fell off, and I looked to see a jet of flame coming from the spigot. Never done that before. I blew it out and thanked my stars I didn’t blow up the building.

How about a Colin Furze turbojet/pulse jet for your chair?
